T.W.O PRESENTS ITS 2008 COLLECTION: THE OMO-GÉ COLLECTION.

FINALLY, the summer is here and T.W.O has come with it in full force! For everyone that has been waiting, THANK YOU so very much for the support and love you have always shown. We love this collection & hope you do too....[well you have to, with six different ranges, there is something for everyone!]

The word 'Omo-Gé' means'Girl/ Babe/Chic/The Hottness etc... in Western Nigeria's Yoruba dialect. We chose it because looking at our entire collection, we realise it is essentially FEMININE. This collection is a celebration of beauty in all forms, glamour, fun, life, fabulosity and femininity. The collection is divided into 6 ranges, separated under 6 different posts with descriptions and pictures of each piece.

All the fabric, styles and names are proudly feminine...(Please feel free to insert a Lóreal 'Cause- we're-worth-it!'-style slogan here.lol!) The names of all the dresses are female names, in different languages[from arabic to thai & more....],representing our varied inspirations and interests. So do not be surprised if you find everything in here, from a touch of east Asia to some of Pete Doherty's...er, 'Mad Man Chic'(??!!?) style in our designs!

THE SMOKY-BATIK RANGE -'THE OMOGÉ COLLECTION'

Summer has finally arrived and T.W.O's brought bold, bright colours to match the warm weather. With light cotton material used in all our clothes, we ensure you stay cool...even whilst radiating all that heat and fabulosity!!

This range gets its unique name from its creative process. Batik is a dieing technique that involves the use of candlewax and BRIGHT, B.R.I.G.H.T colours. [thats why we love it so!] Smoking is a sewing pattern that...well, all we know is it provides clothes that accentuate our curves...and that frankly, is all we need to know! Lol!

THE ASO-OKÉ RANGE - 'THE OMOGÉ COLLECTION'

Aso-oké [pronounced 'ashoh-oh-Kay'] is one of the main signals that a MAJOR celebration is underway in Yoruba land (Yoruba land --> Nigeria, West Africa, the World). It is a sure sign that things are, in the immortal words of Chris Brown, about to be ' On and Popping!' The wearing of Aso-oke with its bright, bold, colours has always been associated with the celebration of life, beauty and femininity.

T.W.O's Aso-Oké range is based on these same elements. Each dress in this range aims to accentuate the Life, Beauty and Femininity in every woman. Each dress is accessorized with a hem of hand sewn, complementing sequins that add to the appeal and effeminacy of each dress.

Summer's here and this range is designed to meet your needs. From barbeques in the park to summer balls, you are definately set to be the belle of the ball while having fun in the sun;-).

All African fabric featured in the Summer Belle range are known as Ankara.

The Summer Belle range is free-fitting, fun and as always, fabulous! You can dress it down with tights, jeans, a jumper, scarf or maybe a jacket? You can even wear it pinafore-style for a more 'conservative-yet-effortlessly-glam' look!

OR, You can gather inspiration from Odiri as she wears hers highwaisted and prettily belted...causing NOTHING but scandals amongst the general populace! Lol!

Runway Divas Extra-ordinaire!

Our first 'runway' experience was at the LSE ACS show in March 08. We went with an abstract-themed Mannequin scene so that each model could really stand out....Not that she'd need that much help...with T.W.O clothes, the tendency to stand out is unbelievably high. Dangerously so in fact. B-)

Here are some pictures from our very first photoshoot!!

We had been invited to showcase our designs at 2007's 'Never Forget Fashion Show', a really REALLY fun show that brought together several upcoming African designers, artists, photographers and other funk-fabulosity lovers;o).

A very thought provoking show it was, especially as most of the hosting designers' pieces had prints of memorable African leaders, activists and humanitarians...a strong reminder that we can all do something to change our little corners of the world. Talk about making a statement with your clothes!?!?!

It was sort of short notice for us, so we couldnt find enough models in time...and as resourceful(and probably vain) as we are, we had to model our clothes ourselves! Turned out to be a lot of fun....typical T.W.O...from enduring the catcalls from builders as we posed on the road to shivering in the biting December cold, let it never be said we have not sacrificed much for our craft! Lol!

The Very Best Place To Start....

1997, the year the Spice Girls reigned, TLC was still uber-cool, Destiny's Child, Envouge,the Power Puff Girls, 702, and two hundred and fifty five million other girl groups were unleashed upon the world...in essence, the year of GIRL POWER!!

Yes, in this same year three Nigerian girls were thrown into the boarding school: Loyola Jesuit College (LJC), otherwise known as the 'Local Jail for Children', these girls, around whom our story revolves are: Tolu Ogunseye, Wendi Okemini & Odiri Obrutse.
11 years later through Anxieties, Boys, Christmases, Deaths, Education, Fashion....down to Zara dresses, these three have stayed friends. Good friends. Very good friends.

Today, they present their own clothing line, one that is reflective of their different personalities....allowing for versatility, creativity and individuality. So, theres definately something in each collection for everyone!

FYI: below is T.W.O's draft logo on the pockets of Tolu's T.W.O denim skirt....[we're currently playing with denim, at this rate NO fabric is safe from us! We try everything!]
